How I Almost Gave Up On Freelancing!

Looking back, I can say that my writing career has been filled of highs and lows. I began by writing poetry, quotes, and short articles because I enjoyed doing so. I used writing as a way to express myself and my emotions, not only as a hobby.

I didn't think writing on the internet could bring in money. However, I once came upon a job posting on LinkedIn. Even though I didn't have much experience, I chose to apply nevertheless. I was surprised when they responded and gave me an opportunity to show myself.

I was assigned a massive assignment: to write 4,000 words a day. Though difficult, I was adamant on proving to myself that I could succeed. But things did not proceed as planned. There were delays when it was time to be paid. They even requested additional editing work from me, which was not in our agreement. I was disappointed and became demotivated.

But there was a spark of optimism precisely when everything looked hopeless. To send the payment, they finally requested for my bank account information. I opted to trust them despite my concerns that they would act dishonestly because I didn't have much money. Furthermore, what do you know? I received payment!

It was enough to cheer me up and get me back on track, even though they didn't pay me as much as they had promised. I persisted. Not too long after, I had a call from another company, and I began doing freelance writing for them. After then, I didn't look back.

In the long run, I see that hurdles are a necessary part of the process. What matters is how we recover from them. My experience has shown me that persistence and self-belief can pay off, even in the face of adversity.

And I'll keep that lesson in mind as I pursue my writing career.

I would never have been a full-fledged, paid content writer if they had not paid me that day. I would have given up on content writing. It's incredible how a single act of kindness or keeping a commitment may completely alter someone's course in life.
